We're married!!!!
On that Tuesday (sept 22), Matt's uncle Donny came in to town, so we walked around and scoped a few picture places (he took the pix), and then took him and his uncle Jeff out to dinner.
On Wednesday, I drove out to my parent's timeshare in the boonies of Virginia, and hung out with my family. Thursday, we took all 5 kids to the waterpark there - they loved it and I got my baby fix. It was nice to have a day off from stress - though I did forget how much commotion they are! Thursday night, I drove back to DC to meet Matt and his family for a little birthday celebration for his mom.
Friday, we had a bunch of errands to run (picking up Euros, etc), and then....the Rehersal and dinner. Our docent was a little rough but the rehersal went fine. The dinner was great - good food and plenty of laughs. My little cousin Jacob (2 years old) was obessed with my new little niece Lily - kept asking where she was and if he could see her. :) Then, Matt dropped me off at the hotel, but not without a gift. A locket with Amor Aeternus engraved. <3
On Sept 25, Matt and I got married. :) It was exciting, and emotional, and fast, and funny, and sweet, and just a lot of things all at once. But we said I do, and now we're locked in. ;) The reception was a lot of fun - everyone danced and drank and was merry. There were even glow sticks involved. Crazy. And I got cake on his face - awesome. The cake was good, the DJ was great, and the disposable cameras were all used (and some hilarious photos have been developed).
Then, our honeymoon. I don't want to give too many details, as it seems really personal, but it was a great time. We went historical site seeing in Rome, sipping wine in Florence, leaning in Pisa, hiking in Cinque Terre, and gondola riding in Venice. A lot of great food and good wine, window shopping, walking, picture taking, and holding hands. It was a really good time. :)

10 days left. Only 5 days of work. 5 days and 4.5 hours. Not including overtime, which there will be a fair amount of.
In 10 days I'll be a taken woman. Bwhahaha.
Things are good, think we mayyyy have everything done by this weekend. Now it's just getting a mani and pedi, dropping off vases (Saturday morning), finding a necklace (Saturday), sending a check to the DJ, and....packing for the honeymoon.
We've had a few more people drop out of the dinner, and more shocking with social networking, is reading what people can afford when they couldn't afford our wedding. Hahah. I think it's such a big deal to us, that we think everyone would have that filter, not true. I love that the whole experience, the good and the bad, has made the wedding all that more meaningful for Matt and I. We are each other's family, and we will always have support for each other. <3
I'm hungry. 13 more minutes. It's McLean week, so they feed us lunch everyday. In exchange for running around like a crazy woman trying trying to make sure everything runs smoothly.
Matt's been working a lot. Too many hours before the election. I hope he gets to go out to Cali for a little bit when we get back from the honeymoon. Just not too long....3 nights is about when I go a lil' crazy. Plus, our house is too big and therefore scary. That would suck - we get back from our honeymoon and he's gone for a month. Welcome to marriage. Ew. Hhahaha.
Oh, 6 minutes til lunch!
I tried to make crab cakes yesterday - tasted pretty good, but not cakey enough - think I need to add more bread crumbs.
Okay, need to go. Just needed a brain break. :)
Oh, check out NYTimes or WashPost - cocoa genome project is 3 years ahead of schedule!

In 14 days, I will be on vacation. Yup - watching my nieces and nephews play in the pool. Ahhhh. In 15 days, I'll be rehersing. And in 16 days, married. In 18 days, flying to Italy as a newlywed.
Time flies. We've been engaged for so long that now that it's here, time is just going by so much faster.
We've really been doing a lot for the wedding - finishing tentcards, seating chart, rehersal invites, programs, confirming everything we ordered months ago (dj, florist, limo, etc). And since we've both been working late, we're not even getting home until 7:30 every night. Makes for busy nights, and busier weekends.
Work is going fine - busy trying to finish everything up before I go. Which means overtime, and we need it. We've been budgetting for 2 years now almost every penny. And we'll continue to do so for the next 6 months until we pay off the wedding. They are expensive!!! Even with all the discounts we managed! Hahaha. It'll be so nice to not have to worry about it all day every day.
There's also been a lot of back and forth recently about my "career path" - which leads me to think of this more as a job, and less of a career. Great company, slow to change. I suppose that's the mantra of family owned businesses though.
Okay, I'm really busy, so back to work. :)

See, look at me. 2 posts, 2 days.
32 days left. Then, I'm a married woman. ;)
And tomorrow I head to a plant in Elizabethtown, PA to check out how we make chocolate. Dove chocolate. Mmmmmmm. I'm pulling some of that off the line!
Months ago, one of my managers, Harold, got our plane tickets to Italy off of his miles. Today, we were talking about a meeting I'm hosting and he asked why I wasn't going to be there. I explained it's my honeymoon...and he asked me where we're going. He had no idea that he had even gotten us the tickets! Hahaha. He truly is the absent minded professor. We also got some candle holders and bowl from one of Matt's childhood friends... (she had...or has...a crush on him....) but it was very unexpected since we weren't even able to invite her to the wedding! He had picked out the candle holders so he was very happy.
My mom sent me some pictures of baby Evan - cannot wait to see him again. And she said my dad was going over his speech. He still needs a suit - apparently the only one he has is from 15 years ago... yup - wedding brain today. 32 more days of wedding brain left!! :)
And now, I am heading to lunch.

It's 6:45 pm and I'm still at work.
I am off to visit my first factory on Wednesday (mmm....chocolate.....), and then have full day meetings on Thursday and Friday....which means I need to get 5 days of work done in 2 days. So I sit, but! My brain needs a break...so I write.
33 days. We have an offical day countdown now. We've been engaged so long that it seems like now time is finally flying. I understand now why people say weddings bring out the worst and best in people....it really emphasizes where people's priorities lie. And how much Matt and I can take on! It's very empowering to know that even if everything has gone according to plan, that we are still so excited to be marrying each other. We're both still waiting to get nervous, I'm not sure if or when that'll hit. We did our food tasting 2 weeks ago and the food was much much better than expected, so we were pleasantly surprised. And since less people are coming than expected, we get to make the food and beverages that much nicer. ;) Plus, it means the people that are coming really want to be there - and that makes us that much happier to see them. And... BABIES! Lots of babies for me to get my fix - Monty, Anthony, Jaime, Peanut, Evan, Lily, Jacob, Sammy. Wooohooo. I need another fix.
We've had an extreeemmeeellllyyyy busy month. Too busy probably. Besides wedding planning, we moved into a 3 bedroom, 3.5 bathroom townhouse, and then out of our old place, Matt started a new new job (not the one from the last post), and I'm allowed to work from home and all the changes that go along. We haven't had a "free" weekend in over a month!
I love the new place - finally feels like a real home. Plus, it has a wood burning fireplace, so it feels like our home. We've got a dining room, 2 living rooms, kitchen, master suite, spare bedroom, office, and a separate basement for the kitty box. And the cats loovvveee it - running up and down stairs for the first time in their little kitty lives. Plus, they get to watch the wildlife outside on our deck - we even had a woodchuck friend the other day!
Last weekend we had our jack and jill party (bachleor/bachelorette party but joint). Matt went golfing and then cooked out with the boys, while I got dinner with the girls. We met up for drinks at a local establishment, and had a great time. They made me wear a sash and crown, though, the crown didn't stay on too long... whoops. It was just like college again - everyone knew everyone and it was just very chill. I like chill. But not being chilly.
This upcoming weekend, our friend Adam Brown is coming into town from London - boy have we missed him. It's been a year since he left and our only communcaiton has been through instant messenger or Facebook.....it's just not the same.
What elseeee? Oh, haha. I turned 25, and Matt turned..old man. Bwhahahah. 27, he turned 27. We did a cooking class for my birthdy and a pedicab ride/nice dinner for his. Next, we're on to Labor Day, WEDDING, Thanksgiving, and Christmas! Time flies.
And it's 7 pm. So apparently not thattt fast - I'm still here. Hahhaah. Need to finish up some items, and head home for dinner. 11 hour day is long enough!
Peace out playa.

Been a while. And I feel like procrastinating...so here I am.
I have COPD, so I breathe heavy when it's hot and humid out. I know this because the people who sit around me are now calling me "Darth Vadar." They're cruel.
I am getting married in less than 3 months. We still have to do: tent cards, programs, favors, out of town bags, seating chart, marriage license, rehearsal invites, song list to dj, change my name (work on that matt... ;) ), vases for florist, speech for rehearsal dinner, photos to donny, tasting at hilton, book hotel for night before, tip envelopes...and i think that is it!!! Long list, but all very little thing, we're doing very well for have 3 months left. I'm really excited; there's all these stories about how I should be stressed or nervous, but I'm not at all. The ONLY thing that causes me stress is peer pressure - other people trying to influence what WE actually want. But, I think we've been standing up pretty well for ourselves. ;)
I've been cooking a lot lately. Homemade mac and cheese (need to not cook the noodles as long), homemade clam chowder (needs 2% milk, not 1%), and fudge - who knows. But I'm proud that I've actually been cooking.
And crunches and push ups - been doing those too. Need to get fit by Aug bachelorette party. Boy, has THAT been a sigh of relief. I do NOT want a crazy woo hooo party, nor honestly, do I think anyone should have one... I just think the point is to prepare for your WEDDING, it's not your last night of being single- you've been taken for a while or you shouldn't be getting married. I HATE the philosophy that men need that last night of being wild and crazy and single. It makes marriage this terrible, boring thing - when in reality, it's something you should WANT. I know, my rant. I know Matt completely agrees with me, but we certainly have friends that don't. It's make me really sad to think that's what our society believes of marriage now.
He has a new job - I hope it fulfills him more. Gives him more of a challenge. And hope that my jobs gives me a bit less of one. They've been expecting me to do more - but with the same amount. Just doesn't work. Can't make 3 apple pies with only enough apples for 2 pies. Ohhhh, analogies.
Well, that is all for today. Just be glad I wrote.
P.S. I sooooo cannot work right now! Dang.

TwentyFourTwo
McLean week is a beast.
I've gone from a week in Seattle, to Board week, to McLean week (currenlty). I'm tired. Normally, we have about 80 people in the office, right now, we have 195...some of which are multi billionaries and nobel laureates. Intimidating. And tiring...did I say that?
Wedding stuff - cake done. Limo done. No more big things left. We coulllldddd get married tomorrow. Except for that license. That's a boy's job. Okay, we have a few things (i.e. invites, filling the favors), but basically don't. So good.
Very excited for this weekend - meeting lil' Lily. Matt's new niece, and my new niece-in-law, which I say simply cuz I think it's fun. It's her baptism and the first time we'll meet her. Yay. :) Plus, we haven't seen Laura and BJ in forever, so it'll be a nice vacation to get to see them. Hot tub and magaritas and babies. Yay again. :)
That's about it. Lots to do. And I want to leave on time since I've already worked an extra 2 hours today. Seesh.
P.S. Candy is temptttting. I need to get a picture of me in my dress to give me some encouragement.

TwentyFour
It's been a while - almost a year.
But I love reading two blogs - one is about Lily Elise (Matt's new niece! My soon to be niece-in-law... or whatever it's called), and one about Las Cruces (which has becomea lot about Lily too.) So, they have inspired me to pick this back up. Plus, I get to meet her in less than a month, and you KNOW I love me some babies!
Today is a Friday, one of my favorite days. I've been uber productive, one of my favorite feelings. AND it's been a good run of things lately.
Matt and I have been wedding planning extraordinaires! We have the reception, the church, the dj, the florist, the dress...all taken care of. We're working cakes (the BEST part by far), limos, and hopefully honeymoon soon. We have our second bedroom covered in wedding stuff, from birdesmaid and groomsmen gifts to favors to visitor information. According to the Knot, 211 days to go. Less than 7 months...woah. :)
As far as work, things are always improving. I was given my very own company American Express, am heading to Seattle next week, and was just given the green light to change over my management team...instead of spreading myself out over 3 functions (Research and Development, Human Resources, and Corporate Affairs), I am now fully Research and Development. Good news since it's been my greatest source of development, and my strongest personal relationships. Looking forward to seeing what the next 3 months has in store for me and my career.
And, very exciting, we decided to sell our big, bulky glass table and replace it with a nice 2 seater kitchen buffet... which arrived yesterday. And our wine rack shall be here today. Things are smiling!
Other good news - I am down 9 pounds. Hoping for another 10 or so...but glad with the progress so far. Need to fit into that wedding dress!!
I suppose that's all for now. Ciao.
